From struggling at a screen
to building an academy.
This is not a corporate backstory. This is a real journey — from confusion and embarrassment to purpose and impact.

Founder & Lead Instructor
Akoma Digital Academy
I know what it feels like to be the person who doesn't know where to start.
I grew up in a community where digital skills were seen as something for "other people." Computers were expensive. Internet was slow. And nobody around me could teach what I desperately wanted to learn.
But I refused to let geography or circumstance decide my future. What started as curiosity at a shared ICT center became a mission — to make sure no one else had to struggle alone the way I did.
"I didn't build this academy because I had it all figured out. I built it because I remember what it felt like not to."
Six moments that built this academy.
Every chapter below shaped how we teach, what we teach, and why we care so deeply about your success.
First Encounter with a Computer
Growing up, computers felt like they belonged to another world — a world of rich kids and foreign countries. At 15, I finally sat in front of one for the first time at an ICT center in my town. I didn't know what to click. I didn't know how to type. I was embarrassed. But something lit up inside me that day that never went out.
I remember staring at that screen thinking — this thing is going to change everything.
No Teacher, No Guide, No Direction
For months I kept going back to that ICT center. But there was no real teaching — just time slots and machines. I searched YouTube at slow speeds, downloaded PDFs on borrowed phones, and pieced together fragments of knowledge from wherever I could find them. I made mistakes constantly. I wasted time. I nearly gave up twice.
Nobody told me what to learn first. I was building a puzzle with missing pieces.
One Person Changed Everything
Then came Mr. Emmanuel — a quiet, patient man who ran an informal tech club after school. He didn't use textbooks. He sat beside you, watched how you struggled, and asked simple questions. He showed me that learning digital skills wasn't about memorising software menus — it was about understanding WHY things work. He taught me to think, not just click.
He said: 'A good teacher doesn't give you answers. A good teacher changes how you see the questions.'
Giving Back to Kids Who Looked Like Me
By 18, I was teaching neighbourhood kids on weekends — basic typing, internet safety, simple graphic design. Some were 10 years old. Some were older than me. But their eyes lit up the same way mine did the first time I touched a keyboard. I realized this was my calling. Not just learning skills — but multiplying them.
A child who designs their first flyer doesn't just see software. They see themselves as capable.
People Were Paying for Confusion
As I grew, I watched people pay for expensive courses that were too complex, too academic, and too disconnected from real African life. They were learning Photoshop but couldn't design a flyer for their mother's shop. They finished courses but couldn't earn a single cedi. The skills existed. The income didn't follow. Something was broken.
The internet was full of content. What was missing was a bridge — between knowledge and income.
Akoma Digital Academy Is Born
I built Akoma Digital Academy as the school I wished had existed when I was 15 — practical, affordable, rooted in the realities of people building something from nothing. Every course here is designed to produce real output: a portfolio, a client, an income stream. Not just a certificate. Not just theory. Real results in real life.
Akoma means heart. This academy is everything I have, poured out — for you.
Real students. Real wins. Real proof.
These are not made-up quotes. These are stories from people just like you who started from zero.
